It would be great if you could install a whitewater park, even if it is only one wave/feature to begin with and monitor participation for use and popularity and possible future expansion. Thanks for addressing this untapped resource

I would be very much in favor of re-routing the river in the lower section, below the dam. If we can slow the water down in that section there could be more fishing opportunities. I see that there is a proposal to widen the stream in that section. I would like to see a more dramatic re routing. Ultimately to restore the stream, instead of being stuck with the route that occurred after the dredge passed through.
I question the environmental impact of gold panning. Is it really sustainable? Wouldn’t we be encouraging damaging erosion and fish habitat degradation?
I don’t think that we should spend too much money on viewing platforms. A few on the Front Street side are sufficient.
Thanks, Scott

I would like to see whitewater park features like the ones in Salida. This would be a great opportunity for the town to draw in tourists looking to kayak and tube the mighty south platte. Alpine sports could rent tubes by the hour, while the town collects tax to help build the new basketball courts at the town park. If you have not seen or been to the river in downtown Salida I urge the town into replicating this. Tubers or kayakers could put in above the pond and ride the river all the way down to hwy 285, and then walk back up and do it again. The longer a tourist stays and plays, the more money they are going to contribute to the economy.

I would like to make sure that the bridges would be secure and safe enough to allow horse crossing. The trails will be so fun!
The trails will be great if they could be safe for horse trail too!
Love the vision!

It is very difficult to read the printing on the map of the river park. It does appear to me that the town will continue to allow parking on the vacant lot that extends from the corner of Front and eighth to the start of the trail to the river. This is a very bad idea to put parking in the middle of a residential area. It is extremely disruptive to our neighborhood especially in the summer. It would be better to plant this area in native vegetation with maybe park benches over looking the river and animal proof trash containers.

need better pet enforcement on the trails from Front S. down to the river!! More signs about Dog waste pickup and leashes!!! No one leashes their dogs for the most part – I live right on the trail-head and I am afraid to take my little dog down there in case he would get attacked by all the large dogs running loose! Also people do not pick up after their dogs! It reeks of dog poop! I bet just one or two days of handing out tickets to people would take care of that!! Also a community “clean up or river trail day” would be nice! Honestly are you going to wait until a visitors small dog is attacked and killed before you enforce this?

How about making a real beach.a few truckloads of nice sand on the edge of the lake for kids to play and adults to hang out on a real beach.
